Backend Software Engineer

We’re looking for a smart and motivated software engineer to help us map the world’s food chain, make it as safe as possible, and empower people to make informed decisions about the food they eat. We track millions of data points every day and connect thousands of food companies around the world.

Our technology enables supplier management, food safety compliance, quality incident management, recall management and whole chain traceability – all on a single platform built exclusively for the food industry.

Responsibilities

Technologies you’ll be working with:

  • Go (golang)
  • MongoDB, Neo4J (or similar Graph DBs)
  • AWS stack: EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, SNS
  • Docker
  • Git

You’ll own and be responsible for:

  • Improving existing APIs and building new, unit-tested APIs
  • Contributing to our engineering culture that emphasizes strong architectural design, collaboration, innovation, and accountability
  • Optimizing the performance and reliability of our platform and ensuring we meet our SLAs

Qualifications

Key competencies to be successful at this position:

  • 4+ years working in the software industry
  • 2+ years implementing REST-based APIs (in any language)
  • 1+ years experience using Go in production
  • Ability to identify and discuss pros/cons when making software design decisions
  • Experience building components in an Agile and iterative environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • BS in Computer Science (or similar degree)

  • Previous experience with AWS
